Max in a Year - 2023
- Maxwell began attending the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music in Boston in August 2023. He's majoring in classical trumpet music performance.
- Invited to audition for the world-renowned Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in fall 2023, Maxwell earned a seat for the next four years. He'll perform with the orchestra throughout the U.S. during the school year, and have two weeks of international performances each summer. The orchestra performed in past years during the summer in Europe, South America and Africa.
- Before deciding to attend the New England Conservatory, Maxwell did 15 pre-screenings with colleges through recorded music and nine follow-up live auditions during his senior year in high school. He was accepted into five schools.
- While preparing and doing the pre-screening videos and practicing the trumpet four hours a day, Maxwell also practiced and competed with his high school's boys cross country team.
- Maxwell's high school (Sterling Newman Central Catholic in Sterling, Illinois) doesn't have a music department. While he was a student at Newman, Maxwell accompanied on the piano during weekly masses and provided background music for religious and school events. He also wrote the high school's alma mater and digitized Newman Loyalty, the school song.
- Maxwell has eight trumpets. Four are used regularly for performances.
